First Time Fertilizer
This week I fertilized my plants for the first time in my gardening career using S.R. fertilizer. I added more fertilizer than I expected to, as I wanted to make sure my plants were being nourished and were impacted by the nutrients. That being said, I think this might have been a first timer’s mistake as I want to make sure I am giving my plants enough fertilizer without overdoing it so they can actually absorb it. If I continue to use too much fertilizer again, the nutrients could leak out of my containers and contaminate waters nearby my house. A lot of newspapers and the media talk about fertilizer in a negative light because of its potentially harmful impact on marine life when used incorrectly. Images of algae taking over bodies of water is often seen in the media, warning of fertilizer’s danger. If used correctly (by not overfertilizing plants), this should not end up being a problem.
Below is a photo of my newly fertilized plants receiving their PLANT FOOD. As you can see, I have aimed to place the fertilizer close to each plant’s roots so that they can absorb the nutrients without it first leaking into the soil.
