Ginger Regrowth - Week 3

After cutting off the mold on my ginger propagule last week, there was not much of a change in growth. No new mold growth was spotted, but the bottom of the propagule turned a bit slimy and overall seemed shriveled. I am not sure if I should give up hope and restart or try to revive my ginger piece. As of now, there are no roots but it still does not seem dead. I am sad because I feel like I have been doing everything right and changing the paper towel surrounding the ginger piece every week, but maybe it's the piece of ginger I chose in the first place. I want to have something to show for my ginger regrowth and be able to move my piece into the water soon...so if I don't see any changes in the next few days I will start fresh with a new ginger piece. 

Below you can see a piece of my current ginger propagule with the slimy piece freshly cut off. You can slightly see how shriveled it has become but sadly there are no roots. If you have any suggestions for how I can revive my propagule, please let me know!
